Today I went shopping. Stopped at Agway and bought 500 pounds of lime, 100 pounds of 10-10-10, and 5 pounds of Red Clover, all to replenish the existing clover plot. Then stopped at Home Depot and bought a screen door and screens for the windows of the Bow Shop.
Got home and the wife and I headed to the clover plot with the quad and tractor. I have a spreader for the Quad, so I open the first bag of lime and here the dirty buggers gave me pulverized lime instead of the granular stuff. The stuff just clogged up the spreader. So I empty the 100 pounds of lime from the spreader into the tractor bucket and add the other 400 pounds. Wife has never driven the tractor, so I gave her a quick demo, put it in low range and low gear and off we went down through the plot. I walked in front of the tractor and spread the lime by hand, that sucked. Had my respirator on though, pretty smart of me, huh?
Gotta say it went pretty smooth, but at almost 65, it wasn't a walk in the park. Then put the 100 pounds of 10-10-10 in the spreader and spread it in about 5 minutes. Got even smarter and had the wife spread the 5 pounds of clover seed with the hand spreader while I drank beer and watched her walk up and down the plot:) The deer just devour the clover all year long, and the turkey, rabbits, and ground hogs love it too. Now I TIRED.....
