Roy,

That is the best Non glass bow I have ever seen. Really makes me want to go back to making BB bows again. Unless you ship to South Africa? I never had any success with them.

Thanks Peter on the compliment. However I don't sell bow's. Yes bamboo can be a pain in the butt at times:)

That is what mine looks like too. Still too much green.

Ya know I just looked at it last night after you asked me about it and it's a lot lighter in color now almost the entire length, but still darker around the middle on both of them. Maybe I'll cut it in half now to speed up the drying process.

I'm interested to see how it works in capable hands. I just got permission to cut some more that is bigger than what I sent you. As long as it takes to dry, I think I'm going to cut some more. That should last me a while.

I know this is a dumb question, Roy and Mitch, but... Did you bust out the nodes like Eric Krewson advises? The only boo I've had dried quickly that way.

The boo is open on both ends, what will busting out the nodes do?

allow air to get into the sealed compartments between the nodes.

LOL Ben:)

So you just bust a hole in one spot at each node?

not through the wall of the bamboo ... you take a piece of rebar or something and jam it down through the hollow center of the bamboo from end to end ... we're talking about the thin membrane that spans across the hole in the center of the bamboo at each node, but inside the center.

Ok, that has already been done. I can see straight through one piece of boo and it's drying better than the other piece which doesn't have them broken out clear through, only on the ends. That stuff is hard as a rock inside now. I gotta find a 3 foot drill bit...

Well... I guess my good luck continues. :(  Will super glue fix it? It doesn't seem structural, just cosmetic? what do you guys think?

If the bow is finished with tillering.
I'd glue it down with super glue and also wrap the beginning, and end, with some sinew, thread  and coat that with glue.

May last a long time or not.

I agree with  macbow. Super glue and wrap. I use artificial sinew but b-50 will work also.

That is what I hate about Bamboo. Ya just never know... But I keep making them:) I would just super glue it down and pray that it holds. I know wrapping it will make it stronger, but when I did that wrap thing in the past, it just pissed me off looking at the bow with the blow out patch on it. I would rather it blow up than have to wrap it with sinew or anything else. It could last for years just with super glue, or it could splinter up again. If it did splinter up again on me, well that's why God invented band saws. I have cut more than one BBO into pieces because of boo splinters. Then I would laugh, and start another one. But hey, that's just how I feel about it. It's all up to you, Mitch. LMAO

Oh and your Flemish string looks awesome, good job there.

My bandsaw has eaten a bunch of failed bows.    :(    And my friend's wood stove has digested them all.   ;)

Today I endured a horrible morning, a rotten afternoon, and boring evening, thus far, in celebration of my 30th wedding anniversary.   :knothead:

Perhaps she'll let me take her out this weekend for a late celebration!?
