Way to go. Understated, when done right, is way better looking!

Worked on cleaning up my bench all day long Sat. in the garage. Re-organized a bunch of stuff, hung some more shelving, more hooks for hanging stuff on instead of cluttering up my bench, and finally got all my reloading stuff put away where it should be so I can have room to work on a bow or build some more strings. Added 2 more incendescent lights above my head cause the florescents just weren't cutting it.
I plan to hunt coyotes for the first part of the morning then I've got 2 endless loop strings to build, I'll take a few pics of my jig set up for y'all to gawk at later on today.

A balmy 18 degrees here this morning. Been up since 5:30 getting things in order. Went out to the shop and cranked up the thermostat to about 66.. The guys should start pulling in around 7:30. Gonna have ham barbeque sandwiches for lunch and some side dishes and some good ole hot peppers on the side. Gonna be a great January day...

Filed and scraped the bamboo off of a bamboo backed recurve that had developed a 12 splinter.  Going to a young marine in California after I glue on another piece of bamboo.

worked on my swap bow a bit. I almost got the ring I want fully exposed. Only about a 1/3rd more to go. It started raining so I had to stop since my shop is my front yard.

Finished the second day of a 2 week CPT's Career Course...a planning and mission development class requirement for promotion to MAJ...while my lams and brand new form sit 100's of miles away waiting to be assembled...I did however find out the FT. Sill, OK has an archery program similar to Ft. Belvoir, VA...going to see if I can rent a bow and feed my addiction on Saturday.

Working on a hickory that is gonna be light. Never work nn a bow when you are distracted by things. I know better but just refuse to listen. Its hard not to when the shop is where you get away!

Last night I had a bow to 22 inches on the tree and watched the riser explode. But the glue joint held and 1/8th of the riser stayed on the bow. Said I quit for tonight.

Dave the Bamboo raised a 12" long splinter on the back.  After gringing it off, you could see a bad spot in the Boo that went about halfway thru the thickness.

This evening I looked over a couple of split osage staves I've had in the out building for awhile. Trying to decide which to start turning into a selfbow. Think I'll start out with the narrowest of the two.  It's about 3 1/2" to 4" wide and over 80" long. It doesn't look like it has too many knots or difficult spots.

Made a huge pile of shavings, reducing a handful of cherry staves. Now I got to clean up the mess.

Hand-planed some boo, glued up BBI, snapped the tip on my first trade bow...

All this talk about raspberry ale and fruity beer has me questioning the manliness of some of you.  Isn't there a man-law about fruit in the beer?  I think that law comes right after "thou shalt not carry a purse, even your wife's."    :p
