Finally got a little time to work on trade bow this morning. Here she is at a low brace, I chose not to do any heat straightening on this bow It had a good natural profile (not straight, but nice curvy figure, the kind most men want in their woman)
     
Also notice it is an asymmetrical design. Here she is just short of desired draw length, left a little to fine tune the outer portion of the limb after the sinew drys.    
And here she is rest right after being shot a few times and strung for 30min or longer.
     
She is pulling 32lbs at 24 inches, It has been a real challenge to get the weight down, don't build many bows for woman and this stave would have been good for a 60 plus bow with out sinew, oh well maybe ***** will like it........... funny name for a girl   ;)    :saywhat:

Roy I thank you very much for the instructional pictures.  I could put a wedge or anything else right there and I promise you the oposite  end will be at least 90 degrees off.  We don't get that kind of straight grain osage here.  Or at least none that I have found or cut.  But I promise you I will keep trying...   :readit:

got me a osage sapling from a buddy  fixin to have some fun with it  this spring when work slows im fixin go for a drive today  go look over some junipers look at some elk see how thing s are  oh ya chain saws goin with me  brock

Wedges only.  
I always place my first wedge at the edge of the very end of the bark where it meets the whitewood and heartwood. Kinda put all that in the middle of the tip of the wedge.
The tip of the wedge should not be fully in contact with the wood across its blade.
The wedge is then angled back towards the log before striking it.
All this while keeping in mind how I can split it to get the most staves.
Once split, I hand pull all the stringy fibers off the heartwood explaining the clean look.
Your'e right though, they were fairly clean and straight grained logs.

Glued a riser on a bow, first riser blew up:)

 

Started my swap bow.

 

Flipped the tips a little.

Roy, i'll assume you flipped the tips after the handle was glued on because the coors must have been used to wash that raspberry taste out of your mouth.    :laughing:  

I made dinner tonight. Deer, corn on the cob taters and pasta.

Today I tuned my $17.50 bandsaw. I love craigslist. I got it and a really old scroll saw for $35. I figure even an off brand bandsaw is worth that. Turns out, after adjusting the blade tension and the guides it cuts like a champ.

Roy, you got a contract with a product placement compan, the breweries pay good money for that kind of thing.

Started my swap bow tonight, hickopry backed birch. Shaped the limbs on th birch and will thin them tomorrow. Then it is on to applying the backing, the handle and seeing if I can get the tiller right. Want to get the swap bow in one hit this year.

The Raspbeery beer bottle has been empty for a week. I made Chisler drink it at our Bownanza last week. I just put it in the pictures to keep on the good side of Katie. Ya all know how touchy women get.    :laughing:

Placed and order with Kenny's Custom Archery for enough lams and glass for 3 bows....that should keep me busy for a few weeks...going to make two identical bows with his Nutmeg Brown Action Wood Angle Cut Lams under clear glass walnut cores,curly maple bellies and a Nutmeg Brown Action Wood Riser...Woo Hoo!

Roy, your shop is ridiculously clean/big/well equipped/perfect. Im drooling.

Today I built a flemish string jig so I can learn to build strings for the bows im learning to build.
