I took a blowtorch to a bamboo slat today to start my bamboo backed bamboo longbow. Now I guess I'd better let the slat rehydrate a bit before planing the inside of it flat.
I can spend the rest of the day finishing up a carving of a turkey for a friend of mine.

Cool! Do hunt the odd duck or goose on it? I like dug ponds - no deep holes or surprises if you want to wade it.

Went out geo-caching with my daughter and we found 3 out of 4 of them the one we did not find was site number 3 and it was and old cemetery that had and old stone wall and the cache was around it some where under a bush. I lifted a rock an peek in the wall and ole jake the snake was there. I put the rock back and looked bit more then a 5' bull snake tries to climb the wall, and while we are following it so my daughter can take a pic, we jump another about the same size. Both are lucky I have told myself I would not kill a snake just for it's skin but if they keep testing me I don't know if I can hold out. They would have been a great matching pair.

Don't know how you managed to hold back Kelly...

I have eaten rattler before, but none of the others species. If I was hungry they would be in a lot of trouble. I may have to give it a try some time.

Kelly, I am having the same problem! I go driving the backroads around dusk 2 or 3 night a week looking for some fresh kill, not too bad shape rattlesnakes.... I keep finding them alive and politely relocate them to safer grounds but it is getting harder and harder... You are a good man, I find it hard to kill snakes that are not endangering  anyone just for the skins.

This afternoon I finished planing a bamboo slat. It is roughly 1/8" except for the nodes.

Got up nice and early and scouted some turkeys with a buddy. Season doesnt open till the 25th up here, but catching them gobbling like mad off the roost really got the blood flowing. Then off to church, then an easter lunch at my inlaws and an easter dinner at my parents! Not a bad day!

No Dave he doesn't shoot very well, but I've got him trained to to sniff out stumpsthat are soft enough. He runs around sniffing like crazy and when he cocks the leg I know that is a good stump to shoot, just don't aim for the wet spot.  :bigsmyl:

Took part in the Easter shoot out in our club. Finished second and beat the Swiss national longbow champion.
