Bear handle wrap

What kind of leather is used for a re-do on a Bear grip? I am looking for the weight in oz, and the type of tan.ie. veg tan or chrome Tan...

I don't remember off hand but I think Don metions it on the restoration 101 thread on the history/collecting forum.
