Where to start
« on: December 28, 2011, 07:12:00 PM »
So I want to begin building my own laminated bows. I have shop space and most power tools but, Where do I start?

I would start by looking at a kennym buildalong and then contact him for his plans  and he will help you get your form right and will be able to give you a good idea on your stack for your desired bow weight!

Lots of good stuff here:

Getting the template from Kenny would be a great way to go if you are looking to build a R/D longbow.  You would have a proven shape right off the bat.  I went with my own design and a few form$ and experiment$ later I'm sneaking up on the right design.  The good news is even the worst bow I built shoots ok and most shoot pretty decent.

The form building method he shows on his site is also a pretty fool proof way to get a smooth & square form without much risk.
