TG BOW SWAP 2012 (pics and post)
« on: January 08, 2012, 10:06:00 PM »
This is a place to share your bow as you build them and once you get them. Also ask questions if you get stuck if you are new like me.

We should be sending names out tomorrow. Stiks and I are making sure since we split the names that everyone is getting a bow and everyone is building a bow.

Once you get your name remember don't tell them. If I you don't get an address don't worry some are moving. I will get you one when you are ready to ship.

Good luck and happy building and Stiks did I miss anything.

Here we go with the "I hope ***** likes it!" statements.  Looking forward to the creations that will come out of the swap.

I already have one well on it's way now. Going to take it a bit slow from here on out so I don't ruin it but so far so good. I picked out a near flawless hickory stave with some natural reflex. Looking foward to getting a name and specs to follow. I'll start getting pics of the process soon.

Looks good Kelly!

We will be sending out PM's starting monday night. When you get them there is no need to reply so me or Kelly don't have a flood of PM's

If you have any questions feel free to drop me or Kelly a PM or email.

 I prefer email [email protected]

Have fun!

Oh and by the way me me and Kelly already know who we're building for

The rest of you guys have to wait a day or two   :D

I love the suspense of this whole thing

Cool beans..... One thing I'm changing this time is go with USPS for shipping. After the FedEx ordeal last year of breaking a bow...I did get money back but that was after a 90 day ordeal of trying to get them to go to the right Addy and after that it took about a week. If it's packed right from what I found out you will get your money back.

Pack it in a PVC tube and there is no way to damage it.

Off to Texas tomorrow, so my build won't start till March. I will be checking in to see how the builds are going. Let the party begin!

I think we are going to have a good time this year and I cant wait to get started. By the way you all get Shiner Bock beer back east? That is what I call good bow making beer.I cant say I am a fan of fruity beer, around my house it is known as breakfast beer!

Shaun, I use PVC tube for shipping bows too and with good success. However I saw a pic on PowWow of a 4" schedule 40 PVE bow tube bent in half with the bow still in it. How they did it I can't imagine.
I'm ready to pick out a stave and get started.
Thanks Kelly and Kris. You guys make a great team for wrangleing this routy bunch of bowyers.
I'm glad to be a part of the TG Bow Trade again this year.

I'm looking forward to the first step...researching my recipient to find out more  about them.  Then comes deciding what bow I want to make for them.  I think that's almost as much fun as making the darned thing.
