David..Yeah its a trilamb.  The layers go..Boo, 24" osage power lam it ended up a little shorter than that by the time I got the ends feathered down., .tapered .0025 ipe core, and parrell osage belly.  I left the belly parrelled so I could have enough room to tiller and it and still leave the ends a little stiff to keep the shape.  The new curves made it come in quiet a bit heavier on the draw weight but a little time can fix that.  Thanks for all the kind words everybody.  I just hope I can just come a little close to the amazing work everyone else is doing.

Pat, sure do like that "Osage Pole" Bow.  For a pole bow to be that flat after tillering and shooting is the difference between a bowyer and a novice.
D, great job on the tri lam.

Pat B

Thanks, Dan. Lots of exercising while removing wood is one of the secrets. I am very impressed with these osage poles. This one was only about 2" with the bark on.

I got mine glued up this afternoon. I have a glass but thought give another go on a backed bow, so its glued this afternoon and drying now. hope the glue holds good.

D

Pat that is awsome that you made such a good looking bow out of such a small piece.  I've never tried an osage selfbow.  I've got several hickory staves split that have been drying for about a year and a half now.  I've just got one shaped down and clost to floor tiller and I only work on it every once in a while.  Just take it down and shave a while and put it back up.  It being my first I don't want to rush it.  I want to heat and flip the tips but have never heat bent one either.  All that is a project for another day.  Working on it makes me truely respect all you guys and gals that make selfbows.

Pat B

Thanks, D. This was fun for me too. I made another one a few years ago but nature pull it into reflex and it was way too much(about 6"). The extra stress cracked the back of one limb. I processed this one differently so I could control the reflex and prevent twisting as it dried. I'd rather add the reflex I want later.
Kelly, I have this bow packed up, in the car and will get it to the PO tomorrow morniung. I'll let you know when it is gone. She should be at her new home by wednesday.

I decided what I want to do this year and I have a good start. Bamboo backed pecan. It is starting out straight limbed and should end up with a little deflex.

Alright I had some time this weekend amid the packing (We are moving in a week)  and was able to do my glue up.  I had to pack up my shop first so my wife was kind enough to let me use the kitchen countertop.

And the profile

Oh and I decided on Bamboo backed Ipe.

Bona,
Cant wait to see what you come up with. Is pecan and hickory fairly close? The only wood shop we have around here anymore sell pecan and hickory in the same bin, that is why I ask.

Javier,
That bow has a nice looking profile cant wait till I get to shoot it   ;)

That is 2 bows in the mail. So you have about a 2% chance of finding a bow on your door step in the next few days.

Good looking bows yall. I can't wait to see what you have in mind B.

This swap is really moving let me tell you.

I've got a 0% chance since I'm too new.  But I'm 100% amazed at the bows being turned out. It is inspiring for us new guys to see and gives me ideas about things to try on thenext bows I build.  Time to head for the shop and do some building!

I'm in the 0% chance club too but congrats to the future owners of the recently shipped bows.

Fabulous Roy.    I know someone will enjoy the heck out of that bow.   Man whoever is the recipient of that bow is one lucky person.   Too bad its wrong handed for me.  (Or at least looks to be that way)

Shawn
