I got a piece of osage and a piece of cocobola (sp?) glued onto the handle area of the boo backed pecan bow that I have started. When I start shaping her up some more I will post pics.

I came around the corner after work last night and there was a 24" box on the porch.......my first thought was 3-piece swap bow! Then I remembered Bevan sent me a refurb drawknife and my heart rate went back down slowly. Sweet knife though!

It is still white as snow, and not completely done, but here are a couple unstrung photos.

Pete, that looks like it is going to be a very nice bow!

The funny thing is I have shipped my bow and received my bow but, I can help but check this post at least 3 times a day to see all the cool bows and keep up on who is picking on Roy...

This afternoon I re-glued the backing onto my osage board. Last time I must not have used enough glue or clamps. This time I used more glue, more clamps, and more pressure.

I often worry about squeezing too much glue from between the backing and board during glue-up.

Glued in about 2.5" of Perry reflex. I've done this on the last 7 bows and they have been ending up almost straight. Gave some serious thought into trying to heat in recurved tips. But I decided to stick with what has worked.

Less pressure is key with URAC. Lots of closely placed "snug" 2" c-clamps with just enough pressure to ooze glue out all over. Then let the URAC fill the gaps and cure hard. A tad too much pressure can concave the back and squeeze too much glue out.

First a little background.  This is my second attempt at a bow, the first was a red oak that quite frankly had to be put out of its misery.

On top of this only being my second bow, the unlucky TradGanger that I am sending this to makes BEAUTIFUL bows.  I mean, this guy should be charging some big money for the pleasure of just LOOKING at them.  Oh well, we all start somewhere.

Here is *********'s future 70" maple board bow pulling 50# @ 26, I am shooting for 55# @ 28.  I still need to finish sand, put the tip overlays on, back it with silk, put on the finish and finally a handle wrap.

How does the tiller look?
