D, LMFAO:)
I don't think I have ever had a bow break or go wrong. All my bows have worked out perfect, not a scratch on any of them, every bow has been dead nuts straight and flawless. You guys gotta be doing something wrong. I find it best to drink a lot of beer while making bows, seems the more beers I drink, the better the bows look.

Oh wait I just thought of something here, maybe that's why my bows look so good, cause I'm toasted up.

Yes I did and I use it. I have the one that slides but on that boo back it did not work so well. I made one with pockets and it works much better.

Ooh boy!!  My trade bow is tillered and sanded...and I'm above my target weight by 2 pounds!!!  Just need to figure out how I should go about putting the finishing touches on the bow (stain, grip, string, arrow rest).  Trying to find the right stain to keep the contrast of the white bow wood (HHB) and chestnut tip overlays.  Looking at a HHB bow I saw that Pat posted, maybe I will just use a clear finish.  I put a couple different stains (black walnut Danish oil, Tung oil, and a light walnut min-wax) on the belly of another HHB I was working on in parallel, as well as on some left over chestnut tip wood, laid out a couple different pieces of leather, and a few different string color combinations…I labeled each sample and left it out for my wife and two kids to give me their combination of suggestions…of course they were all different!  I’m leaning toward no stain…and using several coats of Tung oil.  Any suggestions?

I feel like a proud father; so far, this bow turned out better than any of my other bows!  Both sad and excited to see it go!

Good luck all!

That looks nice to me Roy.  I'm just worried that the natural light color of the HHB will darken up too much and hide the contrasting chestnut tip overlays.  Maybe I could try to carefully double stain the overlays to darken them up a bit more than the rest of the bow…

Well, I was hoping to get the box containing all the parts for the new bow from Bingham's before I had to scoot on back to school, but it came a day later than anticipated. Drat. So, I'm back at school without anything to work on. Come spring break, though, we'll be seeing some progress from me and hopefully a lot of pictures. I can't wait to get it started! I spurred for fancier materials than my wallet liked, but if I spent time listening to my wallet I would still be shooting a wheelie (the horror!). Luckily, I've got some more hours at work to make up for it. I can't wait to see what I've got waiting for me back home. This should be a good one, updates later (first week of April).

HA Roy thats agood point I'm just gonna start buying more beer.  Its a heck of a lot cheeper than bow making materials. lolol  If your bows look that good with you drunker than a monkey I'd hate to see how good it would look if you were sober.

Well I gotta go I'm off to the gas station to buy a six of bow making material. lolol

Dinorocks, try Tru-oil it's absolutely amazing on any wood with nice grain showing.
I'm going to have a hard time letting go too.  :(

Some good looking stuff going on, also notice some folks having some trouble. I went through it last year. just keep on building and it will get better.

I blew up a boo backed ipe sunday and just sat it in the corner and never thought twice about it.

Mine has been done since mid febuary and I put a wrap on it this weekend. Got a nice little package to go with it. I just need to put her in the mail and part with it.
