Ultra awesome bow BrushWolf! Very impressive.

I hear you guys about it being tough to let them go but as long as my recipient takes the bow hunting or stumping now & then I will be happy.

Thanks guys. This is only the second bow I've stippled. I'm pretty pleased with the results. I need to put limb tips and overlays on her, final sand, then it's finish time!

Great looking bows everyone.
Brushwolf that is incredible work. Well done!

I got skins on the Cascara and sinew on the ERC. Won't say what kind of skins but DVShunter probably knows  :bigsmyl:   After the sinew has cured out I'll have to figure what kind of skins for the ERC,,,,, Carp, lingcod, sturgeon, bull trout, and several types of snake skins to choose from.  :dunno:

Dino, one of my favorite "colorations" for whitewood bows is finely ground charcoal hand rubbed in. I've done it with bear fat, olive oil, water and air. The water will raise the grain but a light sanding will knock it back down and not hurt the color. The fine charcoal dust will get down into the grain and knock the "white" out of it but still leave the beauty of the grain.
If I use oil(fat)that is my finish so it has to be replinished occasionally.

Hey Pat - I am thinking about using your charcoal method for my next white wood bow.  Do you just use "chunks" from your fire place - smash them up and then rub them in dry by hand.

Would tru-oil work over top of this?  Any details appreciated.

Thanks,

Mitch

Yup Brushwolf that bow is too beautiful.  We have had some unusually pleasant weather here in Montana so I am looking forward to gluing mine up this weekend.  The bug to get out fishing is pretty tough to kill though..... :-)
