Thanks guys.  This was the third r/d I've built now off a form I bought from a fellow trad ganger last summer and I'm still refining my stack needed for a given weight.  First one was too light, the second one was too heavy, and this one was a little lighter than I wanted, but still within my recipient's requested range.

This year's swap has kind of all climaxed for me within a couple day period - received my bow and packaged up my recipients.  I guess the same is true for Trux.

WOW John, great looking bow!!  I made a cherry selfbow using the sapwood...a little heart wood showed in the handle...I loved the looks of the darker cherry heart wood that I couldn't cover it with a handle wrap!

Looks good all!

Well, I finally received my next osage slat but no hickory backing strip. So... I'm thinking of trying my first bamboo backing. I've planed the boo to 1/8" from the handle area to the tips.
Does boo have to be tapered, or can it be parallel?
Also, the osage had a sideward curve and didn't lay straight. (It is flat) So this afternoon I heated and clamped the slat on a 2x4 to hold it straight until Wednesday afternoon.
Some really great looking bows showing up on here. Great work guys.

well that puts 3 in the mail and give your a 4% chance of getting your bow. The odds keep getting better.

Maybe in a couple of years I will be able to get involved with this. My bows are still very simple compared to a lot of what you guy's are dong. I think this hole bow trade is a very cool idea. Great job everyone.
Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.

My conformation numbers show that some one needs to check their mail   :goldtooth:

The whole point of the swap is to get people building, especially newbs. This was my first year, im a newb as well and I have to say, making a bow knowing it is going to be a surprise for someone pushes your desire to build the best bow you can for them.

I agree, my swap bow is in my opinion that best looking one that I have made so far and even though its nowhere near the works of art that everyone else has made I am thrilled that it is going to someone else, (just waiting on the ok to ship).  This is my first year in this and despite my boo troubles I have had a blast.  I have enjoyed seeing all the beautiful bows that have been made.  Every single one has made wish that that one...no that one..no that one was going to be the one that comes to my door.
