Well, then, Roy, I'll just stay away a little longer this time.
Yeah, David, its heating up down here. Eventhough my "shop" is the yard under a tree, it still gets warm.

I'm at an impass. I've got the riser laminated and limbs laminated but I need to plane down the riser and don't have a planer... hmmph. I contacted my old high school shop teacher to see if he could help me out (just texted me back: i have access to a planer now).

Now that that's cleared up and i don't have any more college courses to worry about i can finally make some serious headway.

Ok a little progress but I keep shortening my short string to short to much. Luck for me I can shorten my long string also. It is pulling about 35#. It amazes me how much the poundage changes with the angle of the string changes.

Well there is not much to show but I am getting there.

Nice tiller tree, Kelly. I like the ruler on it especially.    The bow looks great so far. Keep it up.

My daughter helped me with that ruler. The pencil marks were hard from me to see.

Strung her up the first time today. Ok, the string is a bit to short, but it's coming along nicely.

The draw weight is 5lbs to high right now, but that's ok. That gives me some room to finished her. I also started to work on the riser...

Andy, that's  beautiful, right down to the even twist on that string.  The handle overlay really gives it some "muscle," if you know what I mean. Great work...can't wait to see it finished.

Well I am truly on a short string. It is braced to about 4" and I am pulling it on the short sting to about 27# at 13" so I am on target for weight. I hope to finish about 55# at 28". That will put me just over my target weight but finishing it up and shooting it I hope will let it settle into the weight.

So here is braced

and about 13"

 .

everything seems to be on track so far.

Thanks fella's. I am on a roll; I got it up to about a 5" brace.

Here she is pulling at about 14"

Now to about 16"

Now the only possible issue this tip might be twisting. I will keep an eye on it and see.

The string still seems to track ok.

I did pull it to about 17" and this is just after 10 scrapes from the last. And a few extra scraps in some areas that just looked thicker.

Here she is relaxed. No string follow or set that I can see.

Got my work of art with a second work of art to boot. Long story short. I just got back home after a 3 day primitve archery gathering, already gift laden, I love my friends. This big white tube from our friends to the north was in the living room. I opened it up and found these amazing gifts from Dave (Woodcarver2). The bow has bamboo on the belly and back and I believe a walnut core. It pulls a lucious 50# @ 29" and flat smokes an arrow. Its deceiving as hell when you first draw it......then the arrow screams from it smoothly and super accurate. The call cant be described. Just have a look. Dave please fill in the blanks friend. You captured the real meaning of the swap buddy! Amazing gifts, THANK YOU!

Sweet pearl looks like you got a great one. I love this swap!

And that brings us to 28 bows received and 3 in the mail and 20 still waiting on their bows.

Actually Pearls, I'm about 250 miles due east of where you live.    :wavey:
I'm glad that you like the bow and the trinkets.
This is my best bow to date and I had a hard time saying goodbye. The bow is as you said, American walnut core, bamboo back and a thin strip of bamboo flooring for the belly. I agree with you that it is a nice shooter. The turkey call is one of a kind. I hollowed out a piece of a branch from a silver maple that lives in our front yard and glued on a thin slice of slate. I'm still experimenting with calls so this one has a bit of a deep voice. Try different stikers to see if you can get a higher pitch.
Now that my bow has been delivered, I can sit back and enjoy the anticipation of waiting for a delivery myself.  :archer:
