Wow, thin tips Boswell. I was going to suggest cutting nocks but I see what design you're going for. I would wrap with a string material and glue it for extra security. I know I'd feel a lot better drawing the bow knowing the knocks weren't going to pop off unexpectedly.

I'm with 4est I think there needs to be a groove for the string to ride it.  At brace there is a lot of force being applied to that style of tip and like 4est said its just sheering it off.

Cuban:  Congrats on the young-un.  I too am waiting.  The little woman is going to pop any day now.  It's the only thing keeping half of my sanity off from the mailbox.

Boswell that is going to be a sweet bow if you can figure it out for sure.

Some great bows being sent.

Shaun I hope I sent some mojo along with that bow. It was in the same shed where I have the bucks skull hanging and waiting for the meat to come off.

That blunt is one I would shoot basket balls around the yard while shooting that bow in. It is held on with hot melt so you can heat it up and just add some lead or other material behind it. To add weight.

Yeah, Bos, I agree with 4est. The string is acting like a wedge at the point where the string contacts the overlay and limb. There isn't enough surface contact between the limb tip and overlay to accomodate the amount of pressure being applied. It is a great looking set-up that just can't hold the pressure. Keep at it, bro', you're almost there.

Bos, the guys are right. Ya need to file some grooves into those limb tips.

Bos,maybe try drilling pins in the to from the belly through the back and into the overlay without going through the overlay and making a pin only visibly from the belly.that would solve the shearing. Other than that, I would go with 4est and sand en in. I've done almost a45 and had en hold.

When I glue on a horn or antler nock I usually take a stanley knife blade and cut a crosshatch in the bow tip and in the overlay. I have had one fail but I think I just sanded that one. Maybe you could wrap it with sinew also.

Progress report:

I had a day off work yesterday but after working from 2pm to 6am (16 hrs.) I fell asleep in the recliner but did not put my feet up. When I woke up about 2 hrs. later my left foot wasn't working right. I stood up and took a step and fell straight down. My foot had curled up under me instead landing on the bottom. (Does that make sense?)

I had stepped down with my foot in that position. I heard a bunch of cracking, I think it was my toes. Now my foot is bruised and swollen and I'm hobbling around like Chester from Gun Smoke.

So, I made no progress yesterday. It feels better today though.

Wow Bona, that does not sound comfortable. I hope no serious damage was done. When the foot falls asleep there is no shock absorption from the muscles and nasty things can happen. Good luck and I would think no one will sweat an extra day waiting if it means you get to feeling a little better.

Ya wanna know whats aggrivating....I got home today and started looking the front door and porch over searching for that infamous tube from so far down the road that I couldn't actually if anything is actually there or not like i've done everyday since I got my bow shipped off, but there was nothing there so I check that mailbox to see if there might be that little piece of paper.  I opened the box and HOLY CRAP there was a little "sorry we missed you" yellow piece of paper.  I live in a cultasack (spell check that lol) so I cut the wheel of my truck and gased on it and made a quick turn around and look at the clock its 4:45 and since I live about a minute from the local post office I had tons of time to get there before 5:00. I run in the door and see the CLOSED sign.  Closed at 3:45.  You talk about a sad walk back to my truck. lol  Guess I'll be going in to work a touch late in the morning.

Congrats Mwirwick.  Good luck to you both but mostly her!  My little guy was a whopping 9Lbs. 22in.   And we had a really bad storm with 90 MPH winds that blew down a cherry in my yard that same day.  That will be his first bow...  :)

I finally got to shoot the bow I received from jt walsh. Probably the quietest  bow Ive shot. I was suprised on the speed also. It shoots where im looking also. This a little differant style than Im used to so I didnt know what to expect. I like it very well and may try it a year for hunting. thanks JT very nice work.   Mark
