I will be out of the net for about 4 days. But we are up to 65% complete with 56 bows received and 5 in the mail. With 29 of you waiting you have a 17% chance of getting a bow soon.

Speaking of musky fishing check this out!!!   My dad is up in Bone Lake's neck of the woods and spotted this on the bank.

I'd rather see this than Bigfoot any day!  Good thing I taught him how to use his phone!     :biglaugh:

Well I have my bow mostly finished. Just have to write on it and put on a couple more coats of poly. Then I'll make a string tonight and, I'll have it in the mail on friday or saturday, as long as the finish sets up well. It came out pretty good and I am satisfied with it. I'll try to find the camera and get some updated photo's of it. Wife either has the camera for photo's of summer camp or it is in the sock draw.   :deadhorse:

After some missteps by the post office, my tracking info tells me that a package has arrived at my recipient's door today...

All the post about hova made me search through last years swap. Good idea to make the new guys ship before they receive. Thanks for all that you have done this year Kelly and sticks. I really enjoyed being a part of this years swap and look forward to next years.

I agree. Kelly and Kris have done a great job of handling the Bow Trade. But, without all of the participants they would be just emailing each other. d;^)   I've seen lots of beautiful bows come out of this trade so far but better than that I've seen lots of new bowyers come out of this trade. I've seen guys reach just a little farther in their bow making...just because they were building it for someone else. That is what these trades are all about to me. Pushing yourself to make the best bow you can for your recipient. If we all do that, who can loose! You improve your bow building skills and your recipient gets something special from you. What could be better.
And just think, only 6 more months til the next bow trade and a year to get the bow done. Might be a good time to get started.  d;^)

Here is what ive got so far. Built first bow and came in way under weight so I sinew backed it and it was still under weight. built another one and it developed some severe lateral cracks on the belly so I started on another one and the same thing happened (this batch of osage I have sucks compared to what I'm used to)). Next I cut the two decent limbs off of the two junk bows and spliced them together.  This is where I am so far.  drawing to 25" and have a few more inches to go.

Today I had the opportunity to sleep a little late, but every few minutes something happened to wake me up. You know, the son leaving for work, the wife getting ready for work, neighbor mowing his lawn, the mail lady ringing the doorbell!!!!!!

She said, "I knew you'd want this!" And she was right!   :goldtooth:
