Great looking sticks being made here.  Cause I get to sit on my bow that I made for a bit waiting to ship I figured why not just keep making more and possibly one that would be better to send.  My recipient is close enough to my specs of 30-90# @ 34" So... I scraped and heated and so far this is the current outcome.  With the wife out of town I bring the caul inside  :D   Just throwing out some more options of what I might trade.

The tips line up despite what the pictures show and I'll probably end up digging out the knots but for now they were filled with titebond a few months ago and look just fine.

Goose your my kind of bowyer bud, I love a gnarly piece of yeller wood.

I think Mickey Lotz was the one who coined the phrase that good wood makes good bows and bad wood makes good bowyers.

I like using the nice stuff but I really love the challenge of a nasty one.

 Rest of'em are looking sweet.

 Roy I guess it's alright.    :D

I know you know who is gonna love it.    :goldtooth:

Wood you ask and you shall receive.
Well parts any way. This stave might get set aside.

This is the back, the small knot just to the left of the big knot is my issue.
I left this blank really beefy and just got the last two rings off and that knot was not showing on the old outer ring but it is close to the edge and is where the start of the limb had planned ot be if I kept this bow 68". I will shorten it so that is in the fade.

Here is the reason on the belly it is the top of the big knots and is in the fade now.

I had left the handle area 8" when I ruffed it out and I am glad I did. I will shorten the bow about 4". But I know now I have to start a new one also just in case.

I have to get some wood off the sides also I left it wider and thicker. I had to get it to a bow blank to ship it back from Iraq.

Now the question is do I start a hickory stave or as short 62" Osage I have only completed one other bow. So 62" I think is a little short for anything over 26" draw but I really don't know. hmmmm.

It's good to have a plan B and C and D ......
Plan for the worst and hope for the best.
Dave.
BTW, this is also a good way to end up with one or two extra bows for yourself.  :bigsmyl:

Before the game started and the wife came home I was able to heat up and bend the one stave (tips are 2" past the handle), heat another clean stave halfway (yuck a clean stave), and work on a couple of knots for a takedown. All in all a great day.

PS: it was in my best interest to move my shop back to the garage before the "boss" came home but my house does have a lovely fragrance of warm Osage!
