Neat stave, Kelly.
Goose, LMAO on Boss coming home:)
Kenny, I don't have too:)
LOL.. I use the type of Minwax tongue oil which you just wipe on the bow, let dry for about 6 to 7 minutes, then buff off with a dry rag. Sort of like buffing wax off a vehicle. I wear rubber gloves and just rub the tongue oil all over the bow with a very wet coat. Let it sit 6 to 7 minutes and then buff off. The first pass with the dry rag is like trying to wipe off sticky paint. Then it gets real easy and I buff the heck out of the bow for a minute or so. Let the bow dry 24 hours and give it another coat. The more coats, the higher the shine. Not a high gloss shine, more like a high satin look. I do 4 to 5 coats. What I like about tongue oil is there is zero dust and zero runs in the finish. It's not waterproof, but after 4 or 5 coats it's very water repellant. I have hunted in the rain many times and the finish stays fine.
In the two pictures I posted above, the first picture is with the oil buffed off, the second picture where the bow has a high gloss is before I buffed the oil off.
