Would Mesquite wood be alright to use for a riser?Just wondering if anyone has used it before.

Heck I was wondering if it would make a self bow. In AZ there are the biggest Mesquite trees I have ever seen and they were big. some you could not get your arms around. Never seen any that big when I lived in TX. It made some really pretty furniture.
I hope it does for you Bigern that would be a great look bow I think.

Ernie, Mesquite is some super tough wood and fairly dense, I would give it a thumbs up on riser material. I have a nice board that I have been looking for a good use for.

I believe Great Plains uses it in a standard model.

When I go home to south Texas I always try and bring home some mesquite. I have Used it in a couple risers with phenolic or glass. Turns out nice.

I have seen several self bows with mesquite tips and handles. I would like to get my hands on a block of it for just that use.
