Timming sucess
« on: January 20, 2012, 07:36:00 AM »
I am finishing up a 3pc longbow and trying to fine tune (time) the limbs so I give Kirk a quick call and get some great info and confirm my technique. So after messing with brace and finessing the limbs a bit the bow was shooting pretty good so I thought what the heck and grabed some yarn folded it back and forth in my hand and tied some on the string on both ends and shot the bow and WOW dead in the hand, this was with my wifes 1535 arrows (light). I grabbed one of my hunting arrows 3555 with 200 gr up front and even better if there is such a thing. Needless to say this is the best timmed bow I have built yet. I'll post pics of it after I get a finish on it.

Not trying to side step anything but I dont think I could add anything that is already written. Just gettting the limbs to bend even and return at the same time. I caliper the profile of my limbs from the riser to the tips so they are exact copy of eachother. My bow is 1/16 positive tiller and my grip is slightly below center.

+3 here also, I'm all ears for learning a better method. If it works, I'll try anything at least once afterall that's how I got started in the first place by reading and paying attention on this Bench.
