Indie the Hungarian Horse bow
« on: February 03, 2012, 11:53:00 AM »
So here it is hot off the press.  Inspired by a good Hungarian friend of mine Indie who I met while living in Costa Rica.  Bamboo core with ash riser/power lam and saiyahs.  I had no horn so I used the  leather and superglue for tip overlays.  He draws 55#'s at 28"... So without further a due....

I hope these are a good size.

It shoots great.  The draw is very smooth and it seams to waist no energy.

I am by no means a horse bow expert, so I'm till trying to match arrows with it, but I haven't had much time to shoot.  I was able to shoot for a couple hours yesterday.

I have a friend who has a bow like it so I got some measurements from his.  This was my first try at fiberglass.  Its fun but I think I'll stick to wood from now on.

I have always wanted to try a self bow but I can never find the wood for one.  Sad but true.

Very nice bow!!  I congratulate you on taking on such a project.

Selfbow wood; just gotta keep picking through the boards at the lumberyard.

Looks good. I'm getting ready to take on learning to build horn bows. Fixing to read Adam Karpowitz's book. Love the looks of these type bows.

Very cool! That must be some tough ash wood to bend to that angle!  Quite an accomplishment!  Thanks for sharing it with us.
