Reducing draw weight
« on: February 24, 2012, 08:45:00 AM »
Need some guidance please. I have a 3 piece recurve that I would like to reduce the draw weight from 56 down to around 50 at 28 to give to my son as his dedicated bow. Can I do this with a block and sand paper?
The limbs are cherry under clear glass and would like to sand down the sides rather than belly. Is this possible? Teach me please!
Thanks, Dave

Yes sanding down the sides will get you to 50 pounds. Sand all 4 sides equaly.
