KT-44 Reproduction
« on: July 29, 2012, 09:29:00 PM »
Still a work in process, but thought I would show progress to date.

Here is the form

And a lam stack prior to glue up.  I used solid black fiberglass wedges which worked very well.  The fiberlass allows a very fine fade. Also, notice the length of that stack...under 24"

Solid phenolic riser, and a couple pine templates

Adding some clear glass and white phenolic on the belly side of the limbs.

I am tring a curved limb pocket similar to a cascade bow and as such I made a jig to grind them on the pattern sander

I have the limbs drilled/tapped and fitted to the riser and all overlays on.  Now just a matter of finishing...hopefully I will get some progress this week.

Too cool, been waiting for this one for awhile.  Brad had mentioned he was going to do one of these several months ago.  Really going to be great looking little bow.

I have the limbs mounted, riser rough shaped with arrow shelf and side scalloping completed. All overlays are on and transitioned.  I think it will be about 55# @ 28" although I have not got it all the way back yet.

Some pics will come this week.

String goes on with the use of a stringer, just like anything else.

Beach, I will take some pics of my set up and post that sometime...these pattern sanders are great for making bows but you basically have to make them yourself.

Here are some pics of where I am at now.  String is on, limbs are fairly straight.  I did shoot a couple arrows tonight at 3/4 draw...a bit loud at the moment but dead in the hand.
