Thanks Kenny for the mountain camo block for the riser and the brown glass. I like how it turned out. She ended up 63" nock to nock and 56# at 28". The limbs are 1 1/18" wide at the riser. I used bison rib for the tip and wedge overlays. I made the riser a bit beefy to keep it stiff. I layed up 10 layers of fiberglass cloth and a piece of linen phenolic in the riser to beef it up. I added some more wood on the opposite side of the window so I could cut the window out 1/8" past center. I also cut the shelf down flat so I could use a flipper type rest and a cushion plunger. It shoots vanes well. Seems to shoot my 585 grain 31% foc arrows like darts.
Now just have to get my bear permit and see what she'll do.

What a cool looking bow. I like how the bolting hardware is hidden and string also matches the bow.

Also, where are you planning in getting your bear this year? I have seen more bears this year around NM then I have in a long time...

That is some fine work ! Like the profile and the hidden bolts. The rest is on the correct side as well   ;)   Good luck with the bears. Our season starts in 26 LONG days......

Anyone figure out what the lams in this bow are made of? They are light and stiff but not a common bow wood.

Thanks everyone. Ralph I'm looking into the north part of the Gila but I'm always open to suggestions.   :archer:

Great looking bow!! Should do the trick on a bear. I like the hidden bolt on the limbs- it really stream lines them.

I usually don't like these kind of laminated blocks for risers, but this one is a winner. Congrats!

The end grain looks a little douglas fur like but I doubt it

Ralph you got it. Kirk L uses it on some bows though he has access to old growth doug fir. I've made 3 bows with it so far but the other 2 were light weight bows. I sandwiched the doug fir between thin hickory lams to protect the edges. The darker grain is dense and hard while the lighter is less dense which gives it light weight stiffness. If it blows up I'll let you guys know. I want to chrono it this weekend to see what it's doing.

I Like it !! I am interested to see how the fir works for you over the chrono...

If you go down to Stock Building supply on Edith they have some great vertical grin DF. Everything from about 20 rings per in to about 6 rings per inch. I use the 20 ring stuff for arrow making. I also have a chrono if you need to borrow one , opposed to going down to the shops...

Nice bow it has your own style. The DF should hold with longbow limbs.good luck J G

Those backside bolts look alittle strange at first. Although after looking at them several times I'm really starting to like them.

I've never used laminated blocks before but I think I'm going to give it a try after seeing this one. great job! Tony

Thanks to rmorris I got to shoot this through a chronograph. The bow ends up at 55# at 28" with a 7 1/4" brace height.
588 gr arrow-10.7 gr/lb = 174 fps
512 gr arrow-9.3 gr/lb = 184 fps
430 gr arrow-7.8 gr/lb = 202 fps
Going to try different brace heights to see how that affects things. I'm having trouble shooting over everything with the 588 gr arrow so I'm putting together a 650 +/- grain arrow to see if that matches my mental computer.
