Bamboo diameter?
« on: October 23, 2012, 08:42:00 AM »
Does any one know what diameter the bamboo is that backing strips are cut from? I would imagine that a bigger piece of bamboo would be desirable, because the 1.5" strip would have less crown.

Has anyone made backing strips from bamboo they cut themselves? Any input is appreciated.

I cut my own bamboo backings, 4" is as small a diameter as I will attempt to make a bow from and prefer 5-6". I make narrow BBOs, usually 1 1/4" wide or slightly less.
