prototype finish pics
« on: November 28, 2012, 06:45:00 PM »
I have been doing some brainstorming. The last couple of bows have turned out pretty good. But I just cant seem to be happy with them. So what I done was try and tweek some things. I started by making a 17" riser and new limb jig. The limb change consist of an upside down wedge and a little more curve to the end. So far so good but the real test will come when I get to shoot it. I did miss the draw weight by about 5# but no big deal. The limbs are the same length as my 62" bows. The 17" riser should make me a 60" bow. I want to use up some stock lumber but was a little reluctant to use what I did. The riser is zebra and macasser ebony with macasser        veneers. Here is what I have done so far.

Dang that is a great looking bow.  Even roughed out it looks great.  I've yet to build a recurve but seeing that makes me wanna get the supplies together and have at it.  Look foward to seeing the rest of it.

Turning the wedge around really helped the limb shape out. I like how it all went together. I hope to be able to post some more pics soon.

Dude - A longbow will be a piece of cake given your skills.  You'll probably be bored    ;)

There's a reason why I've built one, and only one, takedown recurve. I'll stick with my easy longbows.

Here are some pics of the riser. It is just about ready to final sand. I hope to get the most of it done this weekend.

Very nice bow, love it. I bet with those fishhook shaped limbs the arrows go down like rockets.
