Should have my swap bow totally finished today. The weather is supposed to be warm enought to spray on the final finish. After that I'll give it over the weekend to cure. Then it will be off to it's new owner.

Finally get a chance to put an initial poly coat on the bow to protect the writing, but now its 20deg outside with 35 mph winds.. What is up with the crazy weather..The wind just sucks the feeling right out of your bones..
Oh well, it will give me a chance to locate a chunk of pure white leather for the handle wrap..

Got the FullerPlast on today. First time I've ever sprayed a bow when the temps were below 70 degrees. Turned out fine.

I used satin, but I think it still needs rubbing down with some steelwool. I'll be able to tell more tomarrow.

I'll post a pic or two over the weekend.

Got a bunch done on the trade bow today. Got the handle pretty much done. Just a bit more carving to get a perfect fit, then final sand and finish. Shot her a bit today. She's real smooth! Here's one pic. I'll let the new owner take the good ones.
 

I did notice one limb just a tiny bit off center and its bugging me. Someone refresh my memory. If the tip is pointing to the left, I take some off the right around mid limb to the fades, correct? The stronger side is opposite the direction the tip points? It's been forever since I've had to mess with the limbs themselves. Usually I just deepen the string nocks and it comes right in line. This one needs a touch more and I don't want to do any more to the nocks.

I shot mine 135 times straight tonight with no problems.  Probably gonna shoot it some more.  Then label it and get it on its way.

Cabbage yeah you take it off the opposite side of the curve....I think....lol..Roy had a diagram if how to do it on here somewhere.

Something about my swap bow has been haunting me and I can't stand it anymore.  I'm not happy with something on it so I'm going to change it.  As is its just not something I want to send to someone else.  But it will be alright.  Coors orginal in hand and I'm off to the bowshed..lol

Min-Wax Tung Oil

I also tung oil. Never tried th minwax brand. I think I used Formbys but it worked ok. Lately I've been using minwax pie on poly. Dries pretty quick and seems liek less work.

lolol I don't know if it fixed it or not but I sure did take the bandsaw to it.  As far as finish goes I usually use spar urathane but I recently tried some precatalyzed laquer from sherwin williams and it done really well..Was easy to spray and flowed out really nice.  I've never tried tung oil.  How long does it take to dry??

I wipe the tung oil on and let it dry for about 6 minutes, then wipe it off with a dry rag. The first pass down the bow, the tung oil will feel like glue. But after that I just keep rubbing it like buffing wax off a car. The downside of tung oil is, it has to dry 24 hours between coats. I do 4 coats so that's 4 days of waiting. But the good side of tung oil is, zero runs and zero dust. I understand tru oil is very good finish, but I don't like a high gloss on my bows. However you can hit the tru oil with steel wool to dull it some.

I've looked at it on the store shelves and even picked up the can and looked at it but then set it back down...lol..thats what I like about the laquer it dries in 20 minutes and dries over any kind of wood (that I've tried that is). That 24 hour drying time really wears on my A.D.D...lol

Hey ]€~}**}+{•••• I got a little more work done on your bow! One more limb glue up and one more riser glue up and I have all the components made. I think you are going to like her and she should be worth the wait
