Am I right in assuming you do not let the person you are making a bow for know about it?

I wish I could have gotten in on this years swap! It just didn't seem the thing to do this time although I was very tempted.

So, do you miss me yet!?

Have fun guys. I'll be following.

Cabbage, I'm a first timer at this, too, so I hear you on the nerves!  Already hit all the local wood suppliers and bought many, many potentials... May have to make a few extras?   :) .

i'm nervous as to wether my recipient will like the looks. i've got 48 selfbows under my belt right now and only 6 broken ones so far. they were red oak, something about that wood, only one has lived so far and it's 3yrs old and shooting strong. 21 have been board bows, hickory, maple, red oak mostly. i got 4 bows in the works now and adding another for the swap. wish my wife would let me shave wood in the house. bit cold somedays outside.  ;)

Man no names yet and this thing is already 3 pages.

I have an Ideal of what I will be making ****** who ever ******* is. I make long bows. Tried to flip tips last year and made a full re-curve well almost made it.

I have some yellow wood and hickory oh and some of that BOO and IPE. I have gotten my stash of rat snake skins going too. Oh I still have a few old black combat boots around for a floppy rest and handle wrap.

Yep I see it in my head. Just hope it makes it out and into the wood.

But who really knows. I have not gotten my name yet either sooooo. I wait with the rest of you.

I will try posting a pick of all the basic info so yall can check and make sure your draws are good to go, and to make sure I did not miss someone. that does happen too but once brought to our attention it is fixed.

Happy building,
Kelly

Nice stave......that sucker is gonna have some wicked color to it after you get'r shaved down  ;)

Sure it has a few checks and holes...but those are just character...Right?.... Guys?

In all seriousness I'm chomping at the bit just like everyone else. The back and forth joking and fun that comes along with this swap is something special.

I'm ready.... Got 3 types of staves to choose from. Guess we shall see. Started messin with a 50" hackberry a few weeks back to get my hands back into it... Prolly back it with some rawhide and see how much bend it will take.
