Looks like I'm stalled out again.

Temps went back below freezing and this puts a halt to any glue ups.

Guess I'll just have to tough it out and continue doing my best to finish the new shop.

Once that's done I'll then have a warm place to work.

Troy, I can only wish I was working on a new shop!  Temps here are too cold to do anything right now.  I just spent 10 mins in my garage trying to clean up from the last project and my fingers about froze off.   :knothead:

I'm at a standstill until the temps get to at least freezing!

Nice bow Soy, good to see soo much progress in here.

I have a pretty good idea of what I'll be building. Have to get organized to shift from selfbows to glass bows. Build a form, box etc. It should be an adventure.

TC,  Know exactly what your talking about. Spent part of yesterday trying to get alittle insulation back in. Had to pull it acouple of weeks ago when I found that I had air gaps in places I didn't know about. Low to mid 20's makes it hard to do anything.

Right after Christmas we had one heck of a blowing snow storm. The next day I went out to check things. Heart breaking when you walk in and see piles of snow laying on your fresh insulation.

Luckly this past weekend had low 50's for temps. I was able to foam seal every place I found air flow during the snowstorm.

Just to cold here.  No heat in the garage-shop.  Supposed to be 40 tommorrow, maybe I can get a riser cut out.  A friend gave me some big chucks of gun stock grade walnut.  A little hard to get to working size pieces but makes some nice looking risers.

Al, it is not nice to talk about gun stock grade walnut and not show any pictures.

Coooold here in my garage!!!

Working on a prototype on the kitchen table.  Wife is surprisingly accepting of it.  Guess she's tired of me milling around the house.

Can't find much on my recipient, just go with what Stiks sent me.

This is fun!!!!!!!

Soy,
Like I said over at PA, if that stave showed up skinned out like that I would hit it with a shovel. That thing looks real. So when you send it to me put a note on it so I don't whack it.

Lol it's the archery version of the peanut brittle can with the snake that jumps out when you open it. You open the box on your porch and BOOM! Snake!

I used the last of my urac on my last project so I ordered some of the new Unibond 800.  It looks and seems to work about the same except the color I got was a little lighter.  That's fine by me as I use a lot of hickory.

My first glue up for the trade left me with some of the worst glue lines I have ever had so I glued up a second hickory backed cherry.  The first one might work out as the bad glue line might be cut out in the cut for the sight window.  I hope to be so lucky.

It feels great to be back at making sawdust.  It's a little cold to work outside in the unheated barn but after a few cuts I'm back inside for the glueing.  Back outside for sanding etc.  Life is good!   :)

Razorback, you sound like my dad when it comes to snakes.  :biglaugh:

When I showed him my first skinbacked bow I warned him before pulling it out of the bag.

Still he jumped back like he would have in the woods when seeing one.

I laughed when he told me never to lay it on the ground around him if I intended to shoot it again.

I got my plan A trade bow on the long string tonight. 68" hickory molly with 16" working limbs and 13" levers. 4" handle area, 1 1/2"fades at the handle, and 1 1/2" fades at the levers.

I just hope ***** ***** ** ****** **** likes the mollegabet design...

Here's some of the walnut.  One of my chunks and a riser for my son's bow I whittled out of it.

I was able to work in the garage for about an hour tonight after work and scraped on either option A, 2, or roman numeral III.  I found what the pessimists would call firewood and some optimists would call a future knot on your noggin.  You can see the check running almost to the edge of the limb but it doesn't run the whole way off.  I have about 1/4" and I'll take it.  I'll see if I can get it to at least brace height before it snaps.  Here comes the superglue!

Goose, you're a thrill seeker! It might be wise to wear a helmet for that one.
