An old joke, D! Seems like Roy and KennyM came up with that, along with DVS, if I don't misremember! Ha!Ha!Ha!
What were you guys talking about when you called it Mongolian Tupelo? Hackberry?

I'm actually using osage backed with maple. This is the first time I've used maple as a backing and so far I like it. Usually I back with hickory and I've used boo a couple of times. Lately the bamboo has been a difficult proposition for me.

Andy those two will look stunning with finish on them. The osage and coco really go good together. Great looking bows everyone.

Oh sorry I missed the joke.  My bad.  I agree Osage and coco is my fav combination.  Although my next one for me is probably gonna be Wenge and Osage riser with black myrtle veneers (thank you for the veneers sixby).

Just got a call about a suspicious bow like package at the house.... Could it be? I won't get to know until tomorrow night when I get home.

Seriously, only a month to go and I'm like a little kid at Christmas every day checking out the doorstep.  I don't know if I can handle this kind of anticipation!

Well... My trade bow bit the bullet this afternoon...   :(
I had unstrung the bow to take a phone call and as I tried to restring it...   :knothead:
It broke about 1/3 of the way down the "top" limb as I was slipping the string into the nocks.
Hit myself in the face with the bow stave. My glasses flew across the garage and the jagged broken end of the stave scraped up my right fore arm. Now my nose is throbbing and the scrape is stinging.
I haven't been hit that hard in years!
The bow was tillering out well at 22". I was going to begin tillering at the 23" mark after stringing the bow. But not now...

Well I got the answer to my question about the package that came yesterday- it was a bow!!! Thanks Thadbow!!! Great craftsmanship, the riser is some really cool curly maple and the tips are tiny. I got to shoot it a little this evening and it is quick, quiet and dead in the hand.

Congrats Trux.  Sweet looking maple.  Great job Thad.  Ink that looks pretty cool man.  I hope all gets straightened out over there as soon as possible.  Red I'm glad you didn't get hurt.  That easily could have been a lot worse.

I got my trade bow tillered and shooting very good.  I glued on the skins yesterday and finished sanding today.  Just put on the first coat of true oil.

I want to put on several coats of finish this week.  I will need to put on a grip and build a new string.  Almost there!  Need more shop time!  Somebody call my boss!   :readit:

Inksoup, good luck with the protests in your country, stay safe.

Am in the process of putting the Hickory backing on my hickory stave and will start the tiller as soon as the straightening has cooled and rehydrated a little.
