Wow you guys make some amazing bows! I don't wander over here too often but lately been hankering to try my hand at making a bow and this thread may have pushed me over the edge.

My Turn. Was working on a bow in the shop and the wife carried long slender tube over. She said the mail man was wondering all day what it was.

This was,from Trapper Rob.
Beautiful , simple Osage self bow. With a bonus knapped broad head.
Robbie's note stated it was,a little light on weight and he ran out of time due to farming duties.

I like this one just fine. Recently have a lot of tendon pain in my string wrist and this, will work well.
Probably won't be my go to hunting bow due to the weight but still proud to own it.

Nice little dog leg in the upper limb.

Hope everyones fourth of July weekend was better than mine. I have bow A finished but came in a couple of pounds light. So I started on bow B and I was pretty much done with it. Well on Thursday I heard the dreadful tick tick boom. Snapped a limb. I should be shipping bow A out either this afternoon or tomorrow.

My apologies to my recipient for shipping at the last minute and coming in under weight.

Oh I forgot to mention.  Although I don't post very much it doesn't mean I am not lurking around on the site and I have to say "man there are a lot of really nice bows made this year". Looks like everyone pulled out the stops on the bow making. Excellent work everyone.

So glad that you got your bow, Burnt!  It's not a speed demon, but it wasn't designed to be.  Nonetheless, it would put an arrow clean through the boiler room on most critters you'll hunt this fall.  As for the finish...I really prefer (and used) spray lacquer.  It's a "hot finish," meaning that you can touch up areas later on and blend the new and old finishes seamlessly.  Because hickory is so hygroscopic, it might require a little tiller touch-up in the future.  If that's needed, you can repair the finish easily.

I finished the last two coats using a frost coat.  You hold the bow a few feet away and spray as usual.  The finish dries slightly before it hits the bow, causing a frosted, slightly raised finish.

Again, enjoy the bow!

Welp.  After a truly crappy February to last week, I'm finally back in the shop to try and get ##^#*€'s bow done.  May need a little help with the final tiller, then wrap the handle and finish shooting her out.  But pleased so far with my second ever bamboo/ipe combo.  Pictures later.  I am in awe once again at the bows coming out!  You guys do awesome and inspiring work.

So, I've got it to here, just shy of #50 at ## inches, not sure where to take off to get the limbs even, and I'd like not to drop too much more poundage.  Suggestions?

I'm thinking mid-limb left side, but not a lot of experience here on the r/d lam bows.

I think the right limb is bending just a tad bit more in the first third of the limb.  So take wood off the first third of the on the left limb.  So pretty much what K-hat said..lol  It looks great though, along with everyone else's.

When the UPS truck shows up in your driveway, it should be a joyous occasion...but no, joy turns to utter disappointment when the long tube he should have been carrying turned out to be a small square box...

Just to keep everyone up to date.  Snuck down and tapered some tip wedges.  Going to try to do a test (dry) glue-up tonight on my new form.  Should be glued up this week though.  Furlough just started.  It hurts the wallet, but helps make bow time.  Just trying to walk the sleeping on the couch and not shafting my recipient by being super late line.  I did let Kris and Kelly know as well.

Nice looking bows everyone!

Beautiful wood combo Ralph, what are the odds that you drew my name two years in a row.  Slim to none, but I can hope lol.
