I like the idea of the starting point pics. So far mine are on my OBI experiment thread, although given the issues I've had with it, it'll prolly blow and ill have to start something else.

Hmmm...Obi...very "Star Wars" I like it.

I want to do a color accent in the handle of my bow, but I non natural color. Anyone ever put micarta on a bow? Seems to me like it would work in the handle.

Ok Kenny, I'll give you a hint at my wish list since you're asking. I've always wanted a Grumley Deerslayer style static recurve, with bull snake skins of course.

Hope that makes it easier for you!

Bill, here is a 1/4" black phenolic i-beam sammiched with red 1/16" phenolic I put in last years trade bow...

The limbs had a 1/16" phenolic stripe dividing the bocote and canary too...

Stay sharp, Kenny.

I've used micarta, both homemade and stuff I've purchased.  It's fine to use.  I made up some blue micarta for a 3 piece take down recurve.  It looked pretty cool in the riser.  I can try to find some pics if you want.

And Kenny, I've seen the stuff you make.  I'll take anything!    :notworthy:   If you want more specifics, make it pretty and fast!

Wow, after that one of Kenny's I feel really dumb posting pictures of my firewood, ah, er, bow.  But here's the one with my homemade micarta.

Joe, if ya didn't mess up on cutting out the shelf I would say that is one heck of a bow. Ya made that maple look good!

Nothing wrong with that bow, Joe. The arrow rest is even on the correct side of the bow!

My material came in this morning so I'll be splicin', gluein', and profilin' this weekend!

I plan to make a bbo with a black walnut handle and tip overlays. It'll have a Flemish twist string in black and bronze B-50. I don't have a backup plan. Hopefully I won't need one!

Goose, I like the idea of a beginning pic posted, but pb and I don't get along very well.

Ralph - that's actually some figured hickory from Kenny.  He's got some really good taste when it comes to the pretty stuff!  And I agree about the shelf.  That bow was for my brother's buddy.  They're both lefties and it always feels so wrong to cut it on that side.  I can never shoot 'em either!  Drives me nuts to make a bow I can't shoot!

Goob - I've been on here for a couple years now, just took a kind of hiatus for a while.  Dang work got in the way for a year or so.  Barely had time to see my kids.  But got that all straightened out now.  Just kinda getting back into posting more regularly.

But thanks guys.  I appreciate all the kind comments.  I always feel like I just barely do "good enough", but I guess I know deep down that I'd never let one go that I didn't want to keep for myself (except those dang lefties).

Got some materials from Kenny a couple days ago for another dang leftie for my brother.  After that it's on to the swap bow!
