I received an awesome bow from Monterey over the weekend!  Unfortunately I am on an extended out of town field assignment and cannot see it in person :-(

My brother (my mail checker) informed me that a tube arrived...I told him to open it as I was also expecting a fishing pole...it was a bow!  He sent me a bunch of picts...looks great!!!  Even better, he told me about it yesterday...on my Birthday!  Well worth the wait!  I'll post photos when I get home.

Dino

PS. pict of the bow from the bowyer are on page 181 of this thread (second post).

I've decided I need to just quit my job.  It keeps getting in the way of important things like hunting, practicing for the hunt, and building bows for the hunt.

Think a fruitless hunter/mediocre bowyer could get his own reality show to pay the bills with?

Probably not liberal enough for mainstream, Dave.
Better go for a cable channel.      :biglaugh:

I've tillered my trade bow out to 21" pulling 50 lbs. Now it's just a matter of finishing the tiller, shooting in, finishing, and shipping.

******, your bow won't be much longer in coming home!

(I still can't post pics. This new web set up for my e-mail is a pain. Ya'll don't reckon it could just be me, do you?)

I don't know Ben...she likes to play nice in public.  But if they used hidden cameras to catch her ripping me two new ones when she thought they had gone...

I honestly had the chance to be a part of new Alaskan based reality show..no joke..based on the lives of river/fishing guides...it was going to be filmed on the yukon river, told the lady producer that I, as a sane human being, was not interested...besides as I also explained, the rivers that I guided on were only about 400-600 miles south of where they were going to film..I thanked her for the opportunity..hung up..then I started laughing..

I'd watch a reality show that follows Roy through retirement.  That should be good for a few laughs.

Episode #1: Papa smurf treating the pond
Episode #2: Tractor dies
Episode #3: The new tractor
Episode #4: Bow shoot and lost arrows
Episode #5: Coor's Light Tri-lams

Episode #7: nature boy hunts in his loincloth
Episode #8: the old man tries some real beer
Episode #9: Roy gets busted ordering complete bows and posting them as his own.
Episode #10: the final chapter in the Roy saga where he puts his dentures back in and actually gets out hunting rather than gabbing online.
Episode #11: Roy adds Sport and jsweka to his thumping list    :deadhorse:

I have some good news and some bad news...the good news is I got it shooting...

the bad news ....a crack opened up at a knot then proceeded to get weaker with shooting. I glued the gap but it the compression fractures kept getting worse.

Unfortunately I think that may be fatal. You could try the Torges style patch. I have never tried it but others have said it works well.

Is that ipe!? never seen ipe with a knot like that, kinda interesting
