i have just received the bow all the from Swiss...
thanks andy... did not open the tube yet...
with this there is good news and bad news.

good news:
i received box safe and sound. i know it is very nice one. i will post the pictures later...

bad news:
"this is turkey" issue happend. in custom they opened the box and put some value on this. custom charged me about 75Euro about custom handover.

please don't get me wrong, this was not the problem for me at all. i am really happy now about the swap...

for the next year, i have some informations for the share about shipping the bow (or anything else)to turkey.

1. it should be small sized. like take down. like andy did for me.  :)  (thank you mate)
2. on the tube it should be clearly stated/written those "GIFT" in turkish "HEDIYE" and "NO PRICE VALUE" in turkish "BEDELSIZDIR".

this time i was lucky that custom guy did not put a price like 10000$$$$$ so i had to pay "hell".

again please, i am not writing those to complain or anything... i am writing this for a general information like if you want to send / ship such items turkey like countries, be aware about the custom problems.
(in turkey we say custom guys get their salaries from customers [bribery])

well again,

THANK YOU ANDY AND ALL FAMILY OF TRADGANG...

what a hell, i have wait now to get out from office and go to home... grrrr

Ink, I'm relieved that it finally arrived to it's destination. I sent it away more that 1 month ago and I really was afraid that it got lost somewhere on its journey to Turkey. It seems to me that the closer you send something the more you pay and the longer it takes...   :banghead:

Man, what a beautiful self bow, Monterey!  Did you let the grand boy shoot it? LOL!

Well... The beaver tail was a wash.  I kept tearing out the laces and didn't have enough leather left to finish the grip. So I went back to the ol' reliable pig skin. The beaver fur string silencers were great! I'll have to use them more often.

I'll shoot this stick a few more times, touch up the tru-oil, and get it in the mail by Monday at the latest.  ************, I sure do enjoy shooting this stick!  It'll be yours in a few more days! LOL!

Glad you finally got yours ink. I we are down to 9 folks needing bows. I am tracking one shipped and possibly another.

The other good news is I have had contact from all but one bowyer who needs to ship.

Cuban Missile I have emailed and PMed him with now reply. If anyone can get hold of him I would be grateful. He has been in I think all the past swaps so I know he is good for his bow. Worried about him though I would like to know if he is all right.

After my last hickory bow went south I have a nice belly split all shaped and ready for its backing. Just have to wait for my glue to arrive. I'm hoping to have some dark cherry, walnut and tiger maple slats ready to laminate for the handle and tips. However I think the guy cutting them for me may be a bit behind and not get to them before I'm ready for glue up. This is late enough so I think I will go all hickory if necessary. I hope to have significant progress this week end. Will be putting something extra together, while the glue is drying. I feel really bad it is going so late.

He will certainly be shooting it in the future, but I am going to make him work for it!  :biglaugh:

He is a very good boy and a great hunting and fishing companion.

"crab pics" Now that's funny right there.  :)   Let me guess, google translate???

If you get "the craps" in Turkish does it translate to "the crabs"?   :)

Play nice, John! LOL!

Monterey, my wife and I are to the age where we would like to have a couple of grandkids. Our sons aren't ready for that yet! At least the part about "having" the kids...   :bigsmyl:

Would have been nice to have a son or sons but instead I had two daughters.  But they have given me five grandsons and two granddaughters!

Hope I live to hunt and fish with a great grandkid!

Ink, I'm glad it finally made to you. The bow was made to be used, so don't worry about leaving scratches and dings on the bow. These are the marks of time and they remind us about the adventures we went through with it. It's the same with people, we don't want to look like fitteen if in fact we are 45 or 50. At least I don't want to.
