I finished a paper weight in the shape of a take down riser today.  If it didn't have phenolic in it it would be fire wood.  I'm so proud as I never made a paper weight before.

Geez there is a beauty already on the way to its new home..Thats awsome.  That was super fast and well done.

Mine is still setting up in the bowshed in the form.  Just too tired (lazy) from working to go work on it.  She can just sleep in the bowshed tonight and I'll get to her tomorrow.

Al - I gotta ask...What turned it into a paper weight as opposed to a riser?

I could make the riser work but not good enough for my trade bow.  Most of what happened is the riser warped in the hot bow.  Got about a 3/32 warp in it side to side.  I may have over compensated for the cold temps.  8 1/2 hours and the box was shut off when I went to shut down, so I was getting temps with my 150-180 thermostat.  Don't know if riser block was a little to high in moisture or what.  No biggie.  To cold in the garage anyway.  Patience!!!!

Al, I've been there before had some zebra that went in strait  and came out twisted 1/10th of a turn, it was a piece that had waxed ends when I started, so I'm sure it was high in moister.

Finished up an Elm "character" bow yesterday. I was building it more for practice than anything else. I also got some Osage staves yesterday. One looks pretty good, the other one is really crazy looking, all twisty and knotted up. I will probably go with the good looking stave and some rawhide backing for *******  ***'s bow. I've really been enjoying the pics of all the beautiful bows being built here, thanks fellas!

Dang overachievers!  I've got to finish up a couple knives before I can start on my trade bow, and it looks like I'd better hurry.

Dan,shoot is at wellsboro, but i have shot at york-adams many times.Grew up in new oxford,my brother and father live in abbottstown.Moved to jersey in 85 for a woman.I was young back then so don't hold it against me.Not my best idea! For the finish, dark red stain at the tips fading out 1/3 down the limbs and some racing stripes would be nice, and could you mount a scope on her for me?I aint that good of a shot!!!

Worked a bit more on one of my candidates. I got the 2pc braced. The sleeve has a bit of forward and back play but side to side is snug. When I get it tillered and shooting I'll decide if I like it enough to send it. I had a ******* custom that did the same thing and shot fine.....  we will see???
