Here is what that knot filled osage stave gave me.  Twins!  One looks better than the other.

Are these cracks fatal?  Osage, knot is about 10" above the fade.  I've been shooting this bow on and off for two weeks and it seems like it develops more cracks everytime I shoot it.  I've been filling them with CA glue as they show up.  The bow shoots well, has not taken any more set since tillering, and is holding weight.

I was hoping this would be my trade bow, but I don't want to ship anything that could be a problem.

Roy, if I were planning to keep it for myself, I wouldn't care, but hate to send someone a bow that could be a bomb waiting to explode.  I never worked osage with a knot like that, was hoping that one of the more experienced osage guys would give their opinions.  The stave is almost 3 years old and has been shaped and tillered close to finished since last spring, don't know why it is cracking like that.

Craig,
Me and my good friend Briam Oden cut this one locally here in Arkansas.  It was a blown over tree on a creek bank and all the limbs grew up from the trunk.  I almost didn't bring it home.  It has been been in the dry in my shop for about 4 years.  We don't have an orver abundance of osage here in northeast Arkansas.

Well got some work done on a cherry pyramid style bow. Reduced the handle area and cleaned up the fades a little. Then got it on the caul to straighten it up a bit and induce some reflex. Doing one limb at a time so will be a 4-5 days before I can work on it some more.
Would have some photo's but PB is as slow as a wet week tonight and it may be hours before my photo's load and then I'll spend an hour farting about with them to get them to the right size. Unless I still have the old settings in place and they auto size like they are supposed to. Here's hoping.

All the bows coming out are looking better and better. Keeping the pressure on for everyone. I love this swap.

Got photo bucket sorted out and here are some photo's. Not sure if this will end up as my swap bow, but it is one of the options.

This one shows some of the misalignment of this stave

Some of the pattern in the limbs

With oil on it for heating. I'm liking the pattern and hope I don't loose too much of the heart wood in the tillering.

Ready for the heat.

I love seeing all this movement on bows. I will try and get some pic up of something now that I have the bunny stomp behind me.
