Soy what do you mean third graders try at an inlay???  Give yourself more credit than that I like it I think it looks great.
 Everybodies stuff is looking really good so far.  Really great looking work going on.  I'm trying to take a little more time this year and not rush it.   Try to scratch around on it this weekend.

Thanks guys... I tell you this took more time than I thought it would... the knock and point are whitetail deer antler the feathers are from the tail feather of an Eastern wild turkey...the shaft is cocobolo to match the tip overlays on the bow,@the 100shot mark 100more to go than skins and bon voyage!

Beginning to look like a bow...

Limbs fitted and ready to cut to length and taper.

 

After cutting to length and tapering.

 

Filed in the string groves and strung it for the first time.

 

Limb tips are still pretty wide, but I start that way incase I have to adjust anything. As it stands right now they show to be pulling straight and the tiller is even.

Tomarrow I'll carry on with the limb work. I'd really like to get things where I can start shaping the riser.

Great looking bows everyone.
I'm back to square one. I was working on my BBH that I started on some time ago. It had a small hinge beginning to show on one limb, so I worked slowly and carefully until I got a nice even tiller. Brace height was still a bit low, so I twisted the string a bit and brought it to about 6". It still looked good and even and it was going to hit the upper end of my target weight window. I excercised it some more and looked at it at 26". I had been bringing it slowly to longer draws, scraping and sanding small amounts of wood. Then I noticed that the tiller was looking off. I ran my fingers along the belly and found some bumps where it was starting to look hingey. Sure enough, there are three deep frets there. Another piece of firewood.    
I guess I'll head back out and start another one.

Guess that's why I went back to making and shooting glass bows.

Thanks Troy. I'm beginning to lean the same way.
I think that I'll be investing in some equipment for building glass bows later this year. Not just out of frustration, but then I'll get to use some really nice woods to build bows with.

Dave, hate to hear that.  Would it be possible to clean out the hinge area and glue in a patch or a complete belly slat?  I've saved a few that way that are still shooting yet.  Just a thought, I hate to give up on anything until all options are exhausted.
