Kid's Self Bow

I took a red oak board and made a kids bow 45" ntn kept it the same width as factor at handle glued on a six inch piece and tapered from the handle to half inch tips and then backed it with burlap.  Boy I sure hit this one on the nail with tiller!  I haven't final shaped grip or nocks yet though.  It does have a lot of string follow.  Right now it pulls 33 pounds at 19 inches and I am shooting for 18 at 20 inches.  I tell you what, I am scared to mess with it, because the tiller is awesome!  I will try and get a pick up.  What do you think I should do?  Keep going or stop and keep it for her to grow into and start another?  This is also only my second self bow that made it.

Ten even strokes with a scraper on each limb from fade to tip. Test & repeat if needed.

Just a thought. String follow on these is pretty normal I think.
For new projects it would help string follow if you didn't pull it past target weight during,tiller.

Not to knit pick or sound like a jack waggon but a self bow is a bow that has been built from a stave and has no backing other than a continuous growth ring.

 A board bow is built from a board.

Back to your question... It is entirely up to you if you want to take weight off of this bow or build another. I would leave it as is and build another. The more bows you build the better bowyer you will become.

K.  It's a self board bow in my opinion.  I think your right, I will start another one.
