Joe, I totally understand. In the last 3 years, except for my trip to Colorado, I have hunter one day, two sits. I seen way more deer while driving to work than I have sitting in the woods.

Frosty, Im guessin you dont have many osage trees where youre at. Those are horseapples or some people call em hedgeapples, they grow on the female osage orange trees. Squirrels are the only thing that Ive ever seen eat them. Around here if you say osage orange tree most people wont know what you're talkin about but if you say horseapple tree they know exactly what you're referring to. Heres a pic of em on the tree

The deer eat them here in PA also, usually after they have frozen and softened up.

Don't make a special trip Kelly. You'll probably be there sooner or later.

This is probably my favorite piece of osage on my place. It looks like a tortured old soul. I thought about cutting it and using it to hold bows for pictures but I just can't bring myself to do it.
Right behind it is a fallen osage with rabbit and other critter tracks going up it. I didn't know rabbits would go up a tree like that. He went up several leaning trees in the area.

There are less than 109 bows in that left trunk. I only like to cut trees that have fallen over. That happens to a lot of the big trees on my place.

Is there any bow wood in this one? I can't see a straight section any longer than about 50" in any limb. This is the only Osage Tree I've ever seen here. I'm sure there is more, but they are very rare in these parts.

That's a leaner!
Anything but the trunk of that tree is in my opinion, fire wood.
Too many wind checks in that old tree grown out in the open. I bet there is some nice character bows in that old trunk.

That tree is old. There is fence wire embedded and a treated 4x4 stuck up in there. I can't believe they didn't take it down when the widened the road.
