Accent's and choices of hardwoods??
« on: January 27, 2013, 12:11:00 PM »
I've been contemplating on the use of accents in risers and the use of all wood accents. My typical colors are white black and light brown and dark brown. So what woods would you suggest that fall into these color spectrums that are hard (strong) enough.  I know what I would use just looking for additional Ideas.

Thanks for input

I usually tend toward a nice curly maple and figured walnut (or burl), but really anything curly and burly looks beautiful.  I've recently started working with quarter sawn sycamore and it's really nice.
You can also take a curly or figured maple and stain it to a darker color and it will really bring out the grain.  Check out Kenny M's website for a really nice picture of a stained figured maple bow.  Beautiful.
