Bamboo lam heat tempering

Do you have too heat temper bamboo lams when building a glass bow?I am buying vertical bamboo flooring and turning them into lams and was wondering if you have too temper,how hot, and how long, thanks for any info.

I don't think you can temper the floorig, it will more than likely ruin the glue joints. Check out YouTube on bamboo fly rod making there is some good information on tempering bamboo there. Best of luck !

i think you can get heat treated vertical flooring

You can get " carmelized" and I believe that it is boiled to get the color not actuall heat treated .

Bamboo does not have to be heat tempered but it is common for bowyers to do.

If it is solid bamboo flooring and not laminated bamboo (lamboo)it can be successfully heat tempered. See the TBB#4 for details and search this site regarding heat treating or heat tempering.

also look into the bamboo fly rod sites-- they re real good at tempering bamboo
