splinter repair on selfbow
« on: February 05, 2013, 08:33:00 PM »
I asked about repairing splinter on my iron wood selfbow. I super glued the splinter and warped it with sinew using gelatin. I have a couple of questions to finish it. How long should I let the hide glue setup before I do anything else? I was thinking about applying tb3 as cover coats be cause I want it water proof or should I use some more gelatin? Then as a sealer I'm gonna use tru-oil.

I put spar varnish over a gelatin glued sinew back once and it seemed to work pretty well.

A week should do it.  I'd finish it however you would normally finish a bow.
Take a kid hunting!
