1st board bow cracking
« on: February 19, 2013, 09:33:00 AM »
Working on 1st board bow and have backed with drywalll tape.  This is a piece of oak from Lowes. I can hear the first sounds of cracking while tillering.  Do I continue and work under the idea that it aint broke until its broke or should I assume it's broke and move on to the next one?

Could be the glue and tape making the cracking, sound.
Usually if a splinter is raised it will be one crack sound.
Just a quick "tick"
If you have a pulley system where you can stand back while exercising then you could continue safely.

There arent any visable cracks but the noise SCARED me.  It was also the first time i exercised the board since adding the backing.
