If you were going to buy a new bandsaw for bow and furniture type projects, which brand and model would you consider?

Love my new shop fox1706 (got my new bandsaw thread) Grizzly and Shop Fox have the same owner just different companies. The shop fox cost me 549 from Midwest woodworker in Omaha it comes with bearing guides, cast wheels, and the fence. With correct setup I can cut .050 veneers no problem. Either one is a good saw for the money.

The best equipment available today in my opinion is the American made used stuff.  Delta Rockwell made some marvelous saws between 1965 and 1984.  Many of the saws show up for sale from deceased owners, or owners just too old to use anymore.  I would visit a web site called OWWM.com (old woodworking machines) and see what I like and what is recommended.  Most American made powermatic or Delta bandsaws wil; be usefull for many lifetimes and are not too difficult to find.  LF

About 5 years ago I bought American Made Delta 14 inch.  It was a "limited addition".  How limited I do not know.  It is a very solid machine.  Built to last.

I researched, ordered and picked it up at an old time hardware store that deals with lots of tools.

I see you are in eastern Iowa, it might be worth a drive to Gordonsville MN.  Let me know if you want contact information on that store.

I would recommend no less than 14" and no less than 1 hp with a sharp blade.  1 1/2 hp is better.  I got a good deal on a new in the crate Jet 17" with 2hp and don't regret it a bit.
