Learn from my mistake

Spray your staves for bugs. ever stave that I have cut has bug holes in them.

Or better yet, store them away from bugs!

Attic, shed, extra room in house, and under the bed.

Lost over 20 staves like that one time. May have managed to save only a few. It's not good....

Besudes, it just means you now have the oppertunity and need to go cutting some more, just trying to be positive.

I too lost a hoard of prime bow wood to woodborers. I only let it happen once. When it comes to trashing my hard-earned bow wood, I'm a quick learner.

By the way, keeping them in a shed or garage won't always stop them. Mine were in my garage/wood shop when they got to them. Now, I dig all of my bark-on staves out once in a while, lean them up against the garage, and spray them with poison. The best bet is to spray them as soon as you get them home, then do what you need to do to them drying asap... strip bark and sapwood, reduce size, etc.
