Glass Bendy Handle - Finished - Chrono results

This one was interesting. It has a total of seven laminations, five hard maple and two fiberglass, for a total of .570" with a .009" taper. First I reduced the width to 1.25" at the handle and 3/4" at the tips, it was just under #100 @ 28"... so I reduced it further to 1.125" at the handle and 7/16" at the tips, now it is #70 @ 28"... It is 61" tip to tip and 60" nock to nock. Everything was getting way to skinny for my liking so that's where it sits now. Very lightweight, and very fast. Some pics -

That's neat and your tiller looks like a perfect arc.

What's it like to shoot?  I just can't help but think that without a handle/grip it would be uncomfortable given it's weight.  Much handshock??

It does have a tiny bit of handshock, but not as much as you'd think. I'm still not sure if I am going to put a wrap on it, probably not. I was surprised at how fast it is, I need to find a chrono, it is way faster than my 62" hybrid and any of my other bows.

MoeM- It was just something that I have wanted to try, not really supposed to be anything, but it reminded me of an eastern woodlands style bow.

Heck Kenny, it's too heavy for me... I weighed it again after I had sanded it and put some wax on it - 69lbs at 28" - but I only draw a bendy to about 26"

Thanks brad, you pointed me in the right direction with the boo/osage elb you did. If I were to do this again in think I might even go with a .010" taper.

Wow, that tiller is right on!  If I ever do one of these, I'll follow your formula for taper and go a bit thinner in stack so as to me able to draw it!      Thanks for describing and for the pics.

Well I picked up a little chronograph and shot it about a dozen times. One was 204.5!!! and the lows were in the mid 180's.

GPP? I'm new to this stuff ...  

My arrows for this one are Gold Tip Traditional 5575's with 145 grain field points. I don't know what that calculates out to... I think thats around 400 grains.

GPP is grain per pound- total arrowweight is usually taken with 9gn per # drawweight at 28" (which is the drawlenght for the measurement too)
So for your 70#@28" arrows shall weight 9gn*70#=630gn.
This has nothing to do with ideal arrows at all- just a normed testsituation.

I had the idear for a bow like this for some time but I worry mostly about the handle so I thought of some kind of short and thick plam to enable some round outs on the edges but that wont be 2bending through the handle...
so it would remain a LB with a short riser^^
Mine was considered to be a LONGbow so about 70" to allow smooth draw- I can`t imagine that your`s has a smooth one- not for a bow and not even for a 70#?!

This is where my inexperience comes in...

I have never understood what people mean by a "smooth draw". When I shoot this bow I don't feel any "sudden" changes in weight or how it draws. What is a good indicator of a smooth draw?
I have been thinking about wrapping the handle with leather, but I just love the stick look I guess  

I'll try to get a video of it shooing up tonight.
