what time of year can osage be cut and split

I have cut it in all seasons with no problems.  I prefer to cut it in late winter/early spring because the sap is down and the cooler temps.  Dragging and splitting osage in the summer when it is in the 90's is not fun.  The hot sun seems to make them check a little faster also.  Fall would be another good time to cut it but that is deer season and I don't like to disturb them.

Study the bark and try to get one with no twist.  If its growing near water it should have good rings.  Cut the sections a little long if you can.  It will give you some wiggle room later if you find any hidden problems.  Seal the ends as soon as you cut it.  Post some pictures of your harvest if you can.

Have been a bit busy but will cut and post pictures sure want to try and make a bow to hunt with  thank you guys
