Well it is certain you have been doing research at atarns site. That's Fabians reconstruction bow. You may be able to use whiteoak But I have my doubts. Its compression will take set and although it does bend very well on its own once glued it seems to lose some of its elasticity and will lift a splinter at the amount of tension that type of bow is under. I have only been making bows since christmas of 2012. So please don't take what I am writing as gospel.

I have failed on three attempts, but I have not bought any books on the subject, they are pricey. Attilas site will help some, with ideas. Water buffalo horn is close to fiberglass in compression, maple would be a good core material it is what was used in Turkey. I have not been able to find any dimensions online. I suspect that the stack thickness weight will be similar to known lam charts. If you are using sinew as backing then weight of horn and core will give you the amount of sinew needed. If you are making a modern style hun bow with glass then the hybred type of stack will get you close to weight.

I am sure someone who has built one will be here shortly. Luck on your bow.
