almost pearlies. full draw shot added.
« on: June 18, 2013, 10:18:00 PM »
This is one I was making for pearl but the tip overlays gave way while shooting in and split the bottom limb for a bit. I almost burned it before Will convinced me to save it. I'm glad he did. I brought it home and ground off the old tips, glued it back together and added some tuff antler to the tips and finished it out. It is smokin! I think pearl can have it if he wants but its probably a bit heavy for home coming in at 58@26. Its Osage with antler overlays and blacksnake skins for decorative purposes to hide all the drying checks that cover the back. I will post some better pics after I get the string from show me strings.I hate making strings and ccan't afford ultra cam material. Lol here are a few teaser pics.

Wow that is gorgous.  I've still yet to have a selfbow and that is awsome.  I really like the handle wrap

In this pic you can see the crack down the limb. It separated between two growth rings more or less for about twelve inches. Tb3 squirted on pretty heavy and two clamps with modest pressure sealed it together just like a backing onto a core. I have out over two hundred shots through it now and still looks good.

Nice bow.  I like the handle wrap and the skins.  The profile of your bows is always sweet looking.

:biglaugh:  apparantley I am a jerk..(according to some on here) I'll admit and won't deny it tho..lol       ...ya know I just learned the hard way...I had made a lot of overlays with plain sawn stock and didn't have any problems with a lot of them for awhile, and some of them are still OK to this day...but all it takes is one to break to figure out what went wrong and to change to only using qaurtersawn stock for tip overlays  ;)
