couple shots here of a new bow i was making for some one. It was identical in stack to a previous one with all 'boo core and this one had red Palm on the belly lam and came in 7# over weight. The red Palm and hairy Oak together with the Osage accent strips go together well i feel. ?now i just have to make another at the correct weight!

Actually MoeM, it wasn't too bad really. Pity they're such crappy photos as the colors really pop in 'real life' Still got some rubbing back and some more finish to apply yet.

Damn- didn`t realize this is the first bow with "zebra core" that does not come out of my shop- it`s natural and carbonised lamboo right?
I love it, even fat Hill limbs turn out real light...

BigBob, I have been searching through old posts trying to find that hairy oak. How can a guy in California get some?  It is a great looking "timber" as you guys would say!

MoeM you got it in one! Natural and 'coffee' or carbonised it is . I do it that way on most limbs as I like the look. Beachbowhunter 'hairy oak' is a native aussie timber with a true name of allocasurina. There are quite a few in the species, like river oak, she oak, flame oak as well. It is not a readily available commercial timber, although some timber specialists do stock it at times. A firm called Lazarides at Banyo in Brisbane some times have it though it might be cost prohibitive to ship , and its very hard to get a large piece without flaws and borer holes.

Very nice I like how the woods compliment each other. I am working on a bow with black palm for the riser and I am really liking the looks of that palm wood also.

I had the same issue with a couple bows not too long ago.  Built one with all actionboo lam and then one with actionboo and walnut.  The one with walnut turned out much heavier.

Thanks you very much for the kind words guys. Horn chaser -black palm should look deadly too.John -yeah I have had some lams add a few pounds up to maybe 4# but 7# is the biggest yet, considering I always use 'boo cores and  vary the  belly lam depending on the bow and riser materials.

Great looking bow.  Glad to hear I am not the only one that has a large weight gain when using something other than aboo.

Seems to be hit or miss Jess with me, as some bows will go over and others hit weight easily. I just roughed out a replacement for this bow and after dropping 20 thou in the stack it looks like its still going to be 5# over. ??????? By my calculations 20 thou should be as near to 7# as can be  yet it still might come  in heavy as well???
